“We just booked a 10-by-20 floor space at AWEA’s WindPower three months from now and we need you to ‘pull something together’ for us!” (WindPower is the world’s largest wind trade show). So began preparations for O’Connell’s first substantial trade show appearance.
Simultaneous with trade show preparations I was racing to get the Renewable Energy section of their new website online by show time, writing and designing two trade show brochures and coordinating over 70 project photo shoots for the company.
Aside from some sleep deprivation that third month everything came of fabulously. O’Connell made further inroads into the competitive wind farm development arena with convincing, professional presentations of their electrical construction, power line and testing services expertise.
Highlighted here are 3-D concept renderings and floor plan schematics for the 10’ x 20’ footprint, photographs from two WindPower trade shows and some display panel graphic options.

Trade Show Experience Overview:
Throughout my career I have been involved with most aspects of trade show development for customers including: show messaging and branding, displays and furniture, signage and lighting, flooring and dividers, brochures, business cards and giveaways, attendee apparel, contact data capture and mailings, emails and phone scripting before and after the show ... concept through production ... communications, coordination and procurement.
I developed displays and graphics for several of Eastman Kodak Company's brand product lines for their expansive presence at mega trade shows, PMA (US) and Photokina (Europe).

Above: After further confirming guidelines and consulting with show officials I developed a series of schematics like the one above for O’Connell personnel to reference as setup options once they were on the trade show floor.

A couple months into working with O’Connell Electric I was asked if I could print out some of the photographs I was taking at their job sites to include in their trade show booth. I asked to see the current booth and they took me to their conference room where the Velcro board below was set up on the conference table. “Gentlemen”, I said, “Let me show you some options …”. Senior management readily bought into my concept layouts and O’Connell quickly became the standard to beat at the shows they attended for several divisions of the company.
Highlighted here is O’Connell’s original velcro display board (top image, provided), 3-D concept renderings, 10’ x 10’ floor plan schematic, trade show photo of the new setup (photo provided) and an image of the background display panels.

I created a 10 x 10 schematic with available show items to provide floor plan layouts for various shows—this layout utilizes an 8 x 8 wall display for the back wall.
9’ x 8’ wall display panels used for O’Connel’s 10 x 20 floor plan are used as a back wall at some of the 10 x 10 venues.
